PM: Russia’s coronavirus situation generally stabilizes
MOSCOW, Jun 1 (PRIME) -- The coronavirus situation has generally stabilized in Russia, the spread of the disease is declining, and there are reasons for careful optimism, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting devoted to the epidemiological state on Monday.
“The coronavirus disease situation remains generally stable across Russia. Experts say that the spread is gradually declining, and the figures give us reasons for careful optimism,” he said.
The number of infected people has been rising by no more than 2.3% daily for a week, including some regions demonstrating a rise of below 2%, he added.
Mishustin also said that all means of individual protection, including masks, gloves, glasses and suits, must be available, and added that Russia is currently producing 9 million protection masks daily.
“The government has allocated 33 billion rubles for the purpose and today, according to the Industry and Trade Ministry, Russian facilities are manufacturing almost 9 million protection masks, over 250,000 protection suits, and 380,000 liters of sanitizers daily,” he said.
Mishustin asked the Russian regions to assess their protection gear stock and replenish it if necessary.
Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said that Russia has increased production of coronavirus tests to 300,000 units daily from zero and that prices for medical protection masks have decreased to 18 rubles apiece from 55 rubles, and further deflation is expected.
